Oppose House Bill 5002 Today

ree

Dear Fairfielders,

URGENT: Oppose House Bill 5002:  Higher Local Property Taxes, Unfunded Mandates, Infrastructure and Services Overwhelmed, Not Real Housing Reform

The concepts in HB5002, possibly being heard as early as today, have serious consequences for towns. When taken as a whole, the bill does nothing meaningful to improve affordability.

Will the Democratic Majority stand up and vote NO, defying leadership expectations? That depends on YOU. Your voice matters. Tell your legislators and Governor Lamont to represent your interests, not the developers’.  VOTE NO ON HB5002.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

1) Send the CT 169 Strong Quick Petition Now.  It only takes a minute. Click here: http://ct169strong.org/petition-2025

Note: You can personalize the petition to make it your own. If it doesn’t open in your email automatically, just copy the draft message from the link, paste it into your email, add your legislators' email addresses, and hit send.

Tip: If the petition isn’t opening, check for a pop-up blocker icon in your browser’s address bar—you may need to disable it to allow the email to launch.

2) Phone and email your legislator's office with a personal message. Enter your town name for your legislator's contact info:https://www.cga.ct.gov/asp/content/townlist.asp

3) Help Spread the WordKnowledge is power. Help us by sharing these facts on the zoning and housing bills with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, civic groups, town leaders, etc.

Note: How can this be considered good policy when the bill was never given a proper hearing, and residents and experts had less than 24 hours’ notice to review or comment on its language?
